Do I need to have access to a computer to attend online school?
Yes, students need a computer that meets the minimum specifications necessary to access the K12 School (OLS) and an internet connection to use Georgia Digital School’s online school platform by K12.
What happens if I cannot afford a computer for my student to attend online school?
In certain cases, based on financial need, Georgia Digital School may loan a computer to an enrolling family. This determination will take place during the enrollment process.
What computer skills are required?
The Learning Coach needs to have at least basic computer skills. Using the computer is an important part of the online school program. Middle school and high school students are most successful if they have basic computer skills.
Do I need high-speed internet access to attend?
No. Although high-speed internet access definitely makes the online learning experience much more satisfying, it is not absolutely necessary. Some geographic areas, unfortunately, do not have high-speed access. However, for those areas that do, it is the preferred type of access for the program.
How do I get technical support?
GDS families needing customer support for computers or the online school can call 866.512.2273 (select option 2).
Can my child move at their own pace?
GDS provides a structured yet flexible learning environment. The program includes weekly assignments, scheduled lessons and activities, and assignments with set due dates. Optional and required instructional sessions are scheduled throughout the week to support student learning. Students have the flexibility to create a schedule that enables them to complete academic work and receive teacher support throughout the day.
